Ee is for Elephant, Part 1

They added the Ee page to their sign language 'books'.  Ava is so proud to be making a book and immediately 'read' it to her favorite stuffed animal, a tiny dog named Little Genie.
Poke page.
Letter Hunt!
Trying to sneak a handful of M&Ms and got caught!!
Another letter hunt.
Ava wrote her first 'E'!!  I circled them in red for the picture.  Aren't they cute?!
We made elephants by coloring the pieces, then cutting them out and gluing them onto a toilet paper tube.
Gracie turned 'C's into 'e's.
She turned all these into 'G's, except for the very last one, which is an 'e'.
Another brilliant idea from the blogosphere:
Write numbers in an egg carton and put 1 item in the first one, 2 in the second one, and so on.
Making play-doh into the letter shape that's printed on the paper.  I really like this idea!  I laminated them so we can re-use.
About to embark on a Scavenger Hunt!  I had actually been wanting to do this with each letter but hadn't gotten around to it yet.  One day after we read 'Letter Ee Sound Box' Gracie suggested that WE make a sound box, too!
We didn't find very many things that start with the short e sound.  Elmo, egg, envelope, elephant, elbow macaroni, and some wooden E's from our alphabet puzzle.
Yep, that's a basket on Gracie's head.  =)
I made Ee roads out of construction paper.
Painting some little elephant puzzles.
We painted some of the worksheets this week for something different.
Shape matching.

Week Dd, Part 2

This was lots of fun!  The foam pieces stick to the window when they're wet.
Gracie wanted to make hers more like a 'snowman'.  She used triangles to make a hairbow on top and had me cut the 'neck' piece in half so it could have arms.  =)
Tracing a few letters.
Complete the pattern.
Make a funny face.
Draw a line from the dinosaur on the left to the one that looks like it on the right.
Gracie didn't want to cross any of the lines that she had previously drawn so she had to take a few detours.  But she got there!  =)
On this sheet you are supposed to circle the one that is different from the other 3.  Ava did it a little bit but then decided they were 'patterins' and cut each line out.  I hadn't thought about it before but it did look like the patterns we've been doing.  Gracie kept calling them 'patters' and wanted to circle all of them. =)
We checked out some books from the library.  'Danny and the Dinosaur' was Joel's book when he was a kid so it was neat to read that.  Gracie loved 'Ducks Disappearing'.  It starts out with 11 ducklings and counts backwards as they keep disappearing (falling into a hole).  All week Gracie has been saying things like, "There are only FOUR!  Now there's only FOUR!!" about anything and everything.  =)  My favorite was 'My d Sound Box'.  I'm so glad I came across this set!  There is a book for each letter, plus some additional ones.  It has a cute story about 'Little d' filling a box with things that start with the letter d, such as dolls, dresses, donuts, etc.

We're also done with Week Ee so I'll share those activities soon.  Today we're starting on Ff!

Sleepy Sunday

I haven't had time to post the rest of our Dd activities yet so I will just share this today!

Dd is for Dinosaur

We did a dinosaur craft using the letter D for the body.
Gracie is laughing hysterically because she put 4 eyes on him, which you can't actually see in this picture.  (I'll have to have a talk with my photographer.)
Four eyes!
Coloring the sign language paper.
Cutting out 'Dd' words.
Coloring the 'd'.
This is a b,d,p,q spinner I made. (saw the idea online, of course)  Those letters are so confusing for kids because they're the exact same shape, just turned a different direction.
'b for ball', then spin it around and its 'q for quilt'.  'd for dog', then spin it around and its 'p for penguin'.
Filling in the circles on the donut and duck with Do-A-Dot markers.
We went out for donuts one morning!
Poor Ava.  She must have gottten bit by something and it made her eye swell up for 2 days.  It didn't hurt or bother her though.
Letter Hunt.  I think I started a tradition with those M&Ms!  They want them every time now.  =)
Coloring a dinosuar.
Making letters out of foam shapes.
I got this at Ross for either $4 or $5 and I think its the coolest thing!

I'll add the rest of Week Dd tomorrow!

=)
